There are documented instances of worsened tooth misalignments, lost teeth, and jaw injuries caused by DIY clear aligners.
Without a licensed dentist or orthodontist’s supervision, DIY clear aligners can be more of a hindrance than a useful tool to achieve a perfect smile. Dentists and orthodontists are trained to move teeth safely, using the tools most appropriate for every patient’s situation. Just as you wouldn’t trust an untrained person to perform surgery or any other medical procedure, you shouldn’t make yourself responsible for your teeth’s health.
